The international exhibition, the ultimate showcase of materials and technology from all over the world will be celebrating its 30tht year from 19 to 22 May.

From 19 to 21 May 2010 CarraraMarmotec will be celebrating its thirtieth year with many new features. In addition to the exhibition space for natural stone materials and technology companies from all over the world, a totally new solution for the promotion of natural stone and its newest applications.

Building on the excellent results achieved in 2008 which recorded 400 exhibitors, including 44 foreign exhibitors from 18 countries and 20000 visitors (including 2.878 foreign visitors),  CarraraMarmotec 2010 will once again be presenting the best of the world production of marble, granite and natural stone as raw materials and finished products together with quarrying and processing machinery, tools and accessories, transport vehicles and highly specialised services. The countdown for CarraraMarmotec 2010 has already begun and includes the direct participation in numerous trade fairs and technical missions all over the world. As well as an extensive international advertising campaign in the most important reviews for the natural stone and stone technology industry, in view of the importance of attracting more and more professionals from the world of design, CarraraMarmotec will also be featured in some of the most prestigious design and architecture reviews.
“CarraraMarmotec 2010’s message is loud and clear: to confirm the role of CarraraMarmotec which has a consolidated natural relationship with the territory and which, thanks to the presence of the entire production line, is able to present the best of the local and world production as – says CarraraFiere Chairman Giorgio Bianchini – it is here that, thanks to the support of avant-garde technology and the availability of the most beautiful and important materials, natural stone becomes a value. We are convinced that using natural stone in architecture, design and art is the most direct and surest way of arousing interest and emotions as well as giving added value to works and with 2010 our aim is to provide an excellent opportunity for technical, commercial and cultural information.”

Hence, CarraraMarmotec 2010 will have a new language, one that is both modern and dynamic, the same applied by the “Natural Stone Vision”, which opened at CarraraMarmotec 2008 and consolidated its development this year with its participation in the Fuori Salone in Milan. This is a new promotional tool created for and by companies that,  by taking part in the initiative, have decided to promote themselves using the values of excellence, quality and the made in Italy brand and investing in planning and technical research, leaving the old concept of the traditional trade fair behind them. Natural stone is showcased as a noble material in the value system that defines Italian Style. At CarraraMarmotec 2010 the Vision will not be just an area set aside for design and debate as in 2008 but an actual exhibition philosophy that aims to show visitors the beauty and elegance of natural stone that helps give added value to individual products. This is the language of creativity, the language spoken by the world of design that CarraraMarmotec aims to approach again to give companies the opportunity to create something new, beautiful and amazing.

CarraraMarmotec 2010 has basically three objectives:

1. to offer visitors a journey through excellence made in Italy
2. to ensure that all the Italian stone districts present themselves with the best of their production
3. to further consolidate its position as the strategic event for countries in the Mediterranean basin

To complement this project three awards have been organised for different target groups:  architects and completed works, young architects and designers, aesthetic research by companies in the technology sector.

Hence, the exhibition will be both a trade show and a container for events such as the prize-giving ceremony for the MAA, the Marble Architectural Awards competition, now in its 25th year, open to works completed by architects and designers who have shown originality and excellence in the use of natural stone materials. These awards commend architects’ creativity by comparing different styles and cultures and promoting the materials and technical knowhow related to their application.

The Dressed Stone Design Award, coming up for the second time, that is open to students from Universities and schools of design and architecture in the area of interior design, the  “under 30” designers. This award also has a section for companies that in the two-year period 2009-2010 have stood out for the use of natural stone in design.

The Innovative Design Technology Award was created as an incentive to exhibiting companies who work in the area of technology yet experiment in innovative shapes and solutions to improve the look of their machines. In short, this award is for the design of the machinery and technology which enable us to appreciate the final products.  So the spot light is on the finished products but the aim is actually to promote the entire production cycle, from the quarry to the best shapes and styles in natural stone.
